Loughborough Canal & Charnwood Water

6th August 2023
Duration: 1 Hour 08 Min
Distance: 6KM
Elevation: 25m

I followed the canal as it curved away from Loughborough towards Barrow Upon Soar, then veered off just before reaching it, heading towards Charnwood Water and returning to my starting point, enjoying a pleasant 6km walk on a Sunday morning.

I opted for a casual 6km walk, starting from home I followed the winding path of Loughborough Canal, I enjoyed the scenery as it curved away from town towards Barrow Upon Soar. Before reaching Barrow Upon Soar, I diverted over Woodthorpe Bridge and onto a trail that led me to Leicester Road (A6).

From there, I headed back towards Loughborough and found myself at Charnwood Water, a peaceful reservoir offering a break from the daily grind. The calm atmosphere and gentle breeze made for a relaxing stroll, allowing me to appreciate the beauty around me.

Circling around Charnwood Water, I couldn’t help but admire the natural surroundings – the lush greenery and the tranquil waters reflecting the morning sunlight. It was a moment to unwind and connect with nature.

With each step, I felt a sense of serenity wash over me, leaving behind the stresses of the week. Returning home, I was grateful for the chance to explore such a peaceful spot close by, feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the week ahead.
